Donald John Trump is no longer president: what does it mean for you?

Donald Trump was elected to break the elite. Of course they want to impeach him
!

So let me get this right, they elected a billionaire as a champion of the people?

The People wanted almost unprecedented corporate taxes cut above all else? I bet they're still waiting for that trickle down economics to come into force...

But the fears of ordinary workers in regard to those promised higher wages were realized.

The bulk of the $150bn the tax cut put into the hands of corporations in 2018 went into shareholder dividends and stock buy-backs, both of which line the pockets of the 10% of Americans who own 84% of the stocks.

Just 6% of the tax savings was spent on workers, according to Just Capital, a not-for-profit that tracks the Russell 1000 index.

In the first three months after the bill passed, the average weekly paycheck rose by $6.21. That would be $233 a year.

The Business community wanted one of theirs in charge and that's what they got. To pretend otherwise is a joke. The Saudi have not gotten any weaker under his watch... How's that for fighting the "elite"

Trump is beating the corrupted establishment swamp, not the 'elite'.

We need multi-millionaires and billionaires in order to create jobs and wealth.

Newsflash: Employees don't create jobs.

Did you miss this part:

Meanwhile, Canada’s economy is showing the biggest monthly job loss since the financial crisis — Statistics Canada said on Friday that 71,200 jobs had been lost last month.

Did you also miss the part where Kevin O'Leary says he's no longer doing in business in Canada? Many of his billionaire buddies are also following suit.

The sad truth is that Entrepreneurship is dying at an alarming rate in Canada.

Cool, keep worshiping at the altar of trickle down economics and the almighty entrepreneur. If money was all that mattered, why are the U.S lagging behind the rest of the western world in so many quality of life metrics? Income inequality is not something you want to "win" at and the U.S are killing it.

No American city made it in The Economist's top 10 cities to live in. But they have so many billionaires improving their lives and that of the people around them .... How can this be!? [/S]
https://www.cntraveler.com/gallery/the-most-livable-cities-in-the-world

Maybe O'leary needs to cool off after he left his unlicensed and unqualified wife crash his boat and kill someone here in Canada this fall. He can stay in the U.S for all I care.

Yes, the business world needs visionaries and leaders. It needs CEOs and investors making decisions in the company's best interest. The ability to accumulate wealth for themselves is a by-product. It is not meant to be the ultimate measuring stick.

Sorry, don't care much for the cult of the entrepreneur / tv personality.

As for the Job metrics in Canada. Yeah, not great. But did you consider that 20 000 of these were temporary jobs created by/for the federal elections? Our economy is strongly tied to some sectors of the economy that are not doing great.

Yeah, that looks like life in the conservative / trump echo chamber.

-Very simple messaging. Sure, to the untrained eye it may look like Trump is wasting most of his time obsessing over his political opponents and not being able to get anything meaningful done (Hello, Wall) but really he's single handedly creating lots of jobs somehow!
-Cartoon like! Even better than a wall of copy/pasted opinions!
-Plays off the leadership cult. Look at Trump and his minions winning / enjoying themselves!

Uber drivers are entrepreneurs too! They're contractors, not employees! That's how you live the American dream. Titles and labels!

The entrepreneur badge of honor. Glorious risk takers and visionaries while the getting is good. Begging for bail outs and hand outs when the tides are turning / the going gets tough.

Good production value. I suppose we could call it propaganda, but let's meet in the middle and call it good work by some youtube entrepreneur. He doesn't get health benefits but he gets to empower a nation through the interwebz.

Are you stating that your health benefits are free?

No, and neither are my supplemental health insurance / pension plan.

It's a safe bet that whoever produced that video was not directly paid for his time and efforts. That's the beauty of political fervor. You reap the benefits of things you don't even need to pay for. I very much doubt the trump campaign reached out and wrote them a check. The video may have generated revenue for it's creator through ads and the person probably gets a rush of dopamine when it's shared or the view counter goes up. Considering he's likely American, I hope he's invested in appropriate health coverage tho. Hospitals don't accept view counters as payments down there.

In America, you must make something out of yourself or you're at the rock bottom. It's unfair right?

The sad truth is that Life is unfair. It always has been and it always will be. No Big Brother government will always change that.

You know what this constant state of unfairness permits? Innovation, creation, progress, human advancement and over-achievement.

Greed also stifles progress and kills innovation. It's highly context dependent. War and necessity have co-opted a lot of the technological breakthroughs of the past century. Governments played a huge part in that in driving that innovation because they had an interest in prevailing over the "alternatives" (Nazi germany, communism, etc)

As a Canadian, to believe in the "The American Dream" in this day and age is pretty astonishing. It's a big fat lie. It's pretty transparent when you're not brainwashed from a young age to think it's the end all be all. Measuring someone's contribution or legacy in dollars is foolish.

Even with trou d'eau in Charge, Canada (7th) ranks ahead of the U.S (12th) for Economic Freedom.
https://www.heritage.org/index/ranking

How's that for reality? Canadians are too polite to take any pride in our achievements. It's sad, really.

QE2 is/was pretty bad ass. Support for Monarchy in Canada will die when she does. We're just polite enough to wait it out.

Monarchy may be dumb but Canada isn't sucking King Salman's dick at every chance they get like Trump's america. The KSA has a lot more influence in American Foreign Policy than most people are comfortable acknowledging. Thanks, Jared! Too bad 9/11 and Pensacola is how they show their gratitude. Refusing to acknowledge the financial leverage they hold doesn't make it any less of an inconvenient truth.

I won't play into the red scare / communist / socialist debate. Every "pure" system is deeply flawed. A measured approach is needed.

The Justice Department's report that is expected to conclude that the FBI's federal investigation into potential links between Russia and President Trump's 2106 campaign wasn't politically motivated will be released Monday.

Inspector General Michael Horowitz, who wrote the report, is said to have found that there was enough evidence to justify the FBI wiretapping Carter Page, Trump's former campaign adviser who reportedly had contact with Russian officials multiple times.

People familiar with the report told the Los Angeles Times that the contents of the report will not only exonerate the FBI but also largely dismiss claims from the Trump administration and its allies that the federal agency broke the law in search of evidence and purposely went after Trump's campaign.

This doesn't fit the Trump narrative of a witch hunt. Better start the spin machine.

I will say that it's unfortunate that people can't stop themselves from leaking bits and pieces of the report ahead of it's official debut.

Doesn't matter, there's always another conspiracy to latch on to.

November came and went and nothing happened, but that doesn't matter, it's right around the corner guys just wait for Q.

the economy is the main point of the elections. if people don't have jobs, they don't care about anything else than the food on their table. all other points rank at a distance from that, and that's one area where whether you like it or not, Trump has done way better than expected. Just that solidifies his voter base. He now stands to get more votes than he did before.

Statement by Attorney General William P. Barr on the Inspector General's Report of the Review of Four FISA Applications and Other Aspects of the FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane Investigation

Attorney General William P. Barr issued the following statement:

Statement of U.S. Attorney John H. Durham

Cliffs:

We found that the FBI did not have information corroborating the specific allegations against Carter Page in Steele's reporting when it relied upon his reports in the first FISA application or subsequent renewal applications.

We found no evidence that the 01 Attorney, NSD supervisors, ODAG officials, or Yates were made aware of these issues before the first application was submitted to the court. Although we also found no evidence that Corney had been made aware of these issues at the time he certified the application, as discussed in our analysis in Chapter Eleven, multiple factors made it difficult for us to precisely determine the extent of FBI leadership's knowledge as to each fact that was not shared with 01 and not included, or inaccurately stated, in the FISA applications. These factors included, among other things, limited recollections, the inability to question Corney or refresh his recollection with relevant, classified documentation because of his lack of a security clearance, and the absence of meeting minutes that would show the specific details shared with Corney and McCabe during briefings they received, beyond the more general investigative updates that we know they were provided.

"We identified significant inaccuracies and omissions in each of the four applications - 7 in the first FISA application and a total of 17 by the final renewal application."

As a result of the 17 significant inaccuracies and omissions we identified, relevant information was not shared with, and consequently not considered by, important Department decision makers and the court, and the FISA applications made it appear as though the evidence supporting probable cause was stronger than was actually the case. We also found basic, fundamental, and serious errors during the completion of the FBl's factual accuracy reviews, known as the Woods Procedures, which are designed to ensure that FISA applications contain a full and accurate presentation of the facts.

We are deeply concerned that so many basic and fundamental errors were made by three separate, hand-picked investigative teams; on one of the most sensitive FBI investigations; after the matter had been briefed to the highest levels within the FBI; even though the information sought through use of FISA authority related so closely to an ongoing presidential campaign; and even though those involved with the investigation knew that their actions were likely to be subjected to close scrutiny. We believe this circumstance reflects a failure not just by those who prepared the FISA applications, but also by the managers and supervisors in the Crossfire Hurricane chain of command, including FBI senior officials who were briefed as the investigation progressed.

In the preparation of the FISA applications to surveil Carter Page, the Crossfire Hurricane team failed to comply with FBI policies, and in so doing fell short of what is rightfully expected from a premier law enforcement agency entrusted with such an intrusive surveillance tool. In light of the significant concerns identified with the Carter Page FISA applications and the other issues described in this report, the OIG today initiated an audit that will further examine the FBI's compliance with the Woods Procedures in FISA applications that target U.S. persons in both counterintelligence and counterterrorism investigations.

What I'm getting from summaries is there were a lot of improper steps taken in the FISA warrants while somehow those exact same steps were not improper. Not making a lot of sense.

IG report says Crossfire Hurricane team denied receiving intelligence information from John Brennan.

This goes against Comey's recollection that: "Brennan shared intelligence on the overarching efforts by the Russian government to interfere in the 2016 U.S. elections."

Basically, somebody is covering for somebody. What a mess, the U.S. is in total CRISIS right now.

But despite this important development, CNN and other FN outlets will report that the FBI did nothing wrong and then bury the story under more impeachment BS.

this is really really bad. I was hoping that there wouldn't be any issues with the FBI and that all that talk would be nothing more than propaganda. now it seems the FBI politically motivated and therefore tainted, so the confidence that the people have in it is shaking. several heads have roll. it will take generations before the FBI can recover from this.

I'm reading though the report and it's not pretty. if the FBI made this up, it's no surprise that Mueller found nothing. there was nothing there. the FBI simply omitted information from another state agency where Page was a contact and had submitted information regarding Russia, and parts of Page's statements that did not fit in with the FBI theory, but included others that supported it? my ex gf can run the FBI. she'd be great at fitting in pieces that only corroborate the story. if they get a list of trump's angry ex gf's together in a room, they can call it the FBI I guess.

Always two sides of the story. Truth is somewhere in between:

And ROFL at Giuliani being there. Definitely trolling them.

I bet you that republicans and democrats would not be able to find any common ground or agreement in a statement like "the sky is blue".

It'll be fun to see them argue about all 476 pages worth of a redacted version of the OIG's reports and counter claims by Trump's hand picked hatchet man.

the summary is the first 19 pages.

Yes.
If we're stating random facts, it also includes the FBI's response. They will add extra layers of bureaucracy by including more check sheets and oversight.

so you say the report is 476 pages long (i.e. unreadable), I tell you that the summary is 19 pages (i.e. readable) and you find this is a random fact. if it is, you started the random fact list by saying it's 476 pages long.

read the 19 pages then we'll discuss. if you don't want to read them, stay out of the discussion.
