so I'm probably going to repeat what has already been said, but you know cause I taught a couple of my friends and ex girlfriend how to drive manual, I feel like I'm this super instructor that needs to give his opinion...
1. Get to know your pedals
- play with the gaz pedal, try to keep a specific rpm, etc..
- same with the clutch pedal, get a feeling how hard is press down, release
2. Quickly find your approximate friction point
- release the clutch pedal normally, and try to get a feeling for when the car starts moving, it will stall right after, that's ok.
3. Start rolling
- release the clutch pedal normally until what you think is the position of the friction point + a good buffer before (this step is not really needed, but it's quicker) and obviously useless if friction point is very low...
- now that you are close to the friction point, slow down and release the clutch much much slower, and I mean like really slow, it will take the time it takes...
- at one point the car will feel like it wants to move, don't freak out, continue at the exact same pace (which is again stupidly slow...)
- now the car will barely start moving and you'll feel your finished completely releasing the clutch, don't stress, take your time and slowly just barely touch a little bit the accelerator pedal to continue the momentum.
Probably there are better ways, but worked great with the people I taught.
