I am looking to buy a used 2010 Mercedes C350 4matic. 95000km on the clock one owner. No problems that he mentioned, but not sure if he is just saying that to sell the car. I am a mechanic and can check the car myself. However is there anything in particular to look for when doing the inspection? Or anything that is problematic on these cars?

Alternator bearing noises. At that mileage if it hasn't been changed yet it will need to be done. You can get rebuilt but it has to be a BOSCH voltage regulator.
Check for corrosion at the modules under the drivers seat.
Look to see if anything was ever spilled on the seats... could cause SRS issues down the road
Front lower control arms, links and bushings.
Oil leaks from the camshaft plugs/pcv at the rear of the cylinder heads.

The sam module might take a crap eventually. Make sure the brake fluid has been changed it not do it, very important.

By 2010 the balance shaft issue was sorted out I would still check for codes... The codes that would be stored would be P1200 and P1208 and misfires.

Overall solid cars. I'm sure I am forgetting something else in the rear suspension

wow great. what year did that balance shaft problem happen? Did it affect the 2009 as wel. Also did it affect the C300 model also?

I see your a specialist in BMW as well. The other car I am also looking at is a 2010 535i xdrive. 90000kms. 1 owner no accidents. Car looks very clean but still want to know if there are any trouble spots to look for. I searched the google and everyone says it's a very solid car.

thanks again for the other info. Suppose to see it today or tomorrow.

balance shaft issues ran up until 2008 ish

535xi.. Everything from injectors, HPFP, oil leaks, turbos, front axle shafts. strange electrical issues. They're ok but will cost more on maintenance than the Benz.

Ok I wondered why the seller was selling so cheap. I have 3 cars to see. 2009 c350 with 90k, 2010 c350 with 95k and a 2009 c300 with 60k. thanks again for the info. I will check all for those problems.

I had a 2008 C350 that i bought in 2013 with around 95 000 Km , worst nightmare ever,

i decided that for the 1st time i will not take the extend warranty, so after 6-7 days i got the car, i am starting to have acceleration problem,

So i decided to go back to MB laval, they said eveything is working fine... then the next day same problem came back , so i bring back the car to MB laval and again they told me the car is working fine. (bad experience with them)

Now 2nd option come to my mind, i decided to go at MB silverstar in montreal at my charge, found out they don't know what's going on..

So 3rd options, i go to MB West Island, they found out after a minute that the electronic board on the transmission need to be replace, so i ask for an estimated , i was thinking that probably around 4-500$ Problem will be solved..

Oh damn not,, cost is 4 600$ + Taxes to change the board and re-program everything.

i was lucky because i had the 30 days basic warranty on my purchased.

After 6 months i trade the 08 for a C300 2013, new design in & out, more comfortable, run's way better.

So if i was you ,

1st thing , bought an extended warranty

2nd ,you should bough the next generation (2012+).
