I do not do the hiring.

NOTE: Ignore the 100% travel. This applies to US. If you live in the surrounding areas of Montreal, the overnight stays are very very low ( if you live in Mirabel, you will always be in a hotel). Same with Quebec City. Applies to the GTA also.

Unofficial Inside scoop: We get per diems for meals. ALL lunches are paid. Overnight stays includes dinner and breakfast per diems. Company car is provided after a few months of employment ( only VW ). In the meantime, you rent or use personal car with mileage compensated. Tools are provided. Safety shoes are compensated once per year. Cell phone, laptop. Full insurance benefits, company contributes to RRSP.

The Good: Constant technology updates. (different shit, different days, as i say). Freedom to not be in a factory. Good company to work for . You definitely will do overtime, as travel time is included (you leave your house at 6am and arrived at client at 7am, ( 1 hour travel time) and back home too (another hour). Paid by hour. Any thing over 40 total hours is 1 1/2. Sunday is double, but very very rare. 2 weeks vacation plus 5 sick days all rolled into PTO (use them however you wish). You will accumulate various points. Very very challenging. Good support group. (also a good team that we bounce our ideas off each other) You basically could live anywhere and have a job.

The Bad : the first year will be a lot of training, be it in Farmington CT, or overseas ( Germany, Austria.....) 2 weeks here, 3 weeks there , however the course is. You can say about 4-5 courses. So passport needed. . Irate customers. Staying late to get the machine back to working condition.

Working english is required as the courses will be in english, more languages =asset
DEP or DEC : electro mechanic, industrial mechanic, millwirght, or a lot of experience fixing CNC.

If interested, Email HR with the Subject: Service Engineer For Trumpf Canada

TLDR: Need Service tech, if you consider yourself a god, stay away

ninja edit: can't air dirty laundry in public forum

The Bad : the training will be shadowing a senior tech for a while, since Covid screwed it all up . . Irate customers. Staying late to get the machine back to working condition.
