light and easy to operate OS for old pc?

I've got a few late p4 gaming and workstation rigs and an old dual core laptop sitting around. I would like to put one in the garage for basic internet stuff, and mostly playing Gran Turismo lounge music playlists 24/7. Is there a good light duty OS for this type of application? Or am I better off reformatting with xp?

while it might not be more powerful depending on which P4 is in there, it will most definitely consume less power.

I wonder how long it takes to offset the 100$ or so that an RB3 costs vs the cost of electricity for an old laptop.

Example: At home I installed a pihole on an old AMD64 laptop I had laying around doing nothing. The laptop was free but it definitely would take more power than an RB3.

should be pretty easy to calculate with a kill-a-watt

So spend more money to figure out how much money is being spent? :)

FU I bought one off Amazon for 22$. TBH I've been looking for one for a while now. I have a media server that runs 24/7 and this will tell me how much money/year I spend just running it idle when nobody's home lol...

haha, don't feel bad, I have 2. To be fair I only bought one, the other I borrowed from a colleague, and then forgot about...hence the second one :p

Jadore!
