If you needed another reason to stop visiting this cesspool well, they're running mining scripts on your computer while you're on their website.

for how long has website been running script like that? I ask you cause I know you are into crypto maybe you know the answer

2012 seriously... And at the time, you could even buy (you still can...) ad-like mining spots on pages.

2015-2016 is kinda went down a little, but nowadays, everyone is after cryptos more and more.

Won't give out names, I met a guy, a "friend" referred by a MR member, a few years back that had the setup in place to provide with 100k's of web miners almost on demand with the proper investment because of things they already had installed on 100K's of computer, like ad bars and other shit that had a call-home, so you can instruct the ad-bar to do pretty much what you want.

You can also prevent it... Not very detailed, but discuss the subject : https://fossbytes.com/block-cryptocurrency-mining-in-browser/

Good example on how they do it: https://99bitcoins.com/webmining-monetize-your-website-through-user-browsers/

Plug-ins for wordpress like CoinHive does just this.

Je sais pas pour MTLBlog mais c'est peut-être pas volontaire non plus...

Le site de LaPresse s'est fait hacké parce qu'ils se sont rendu compte qu'il avait aussi des scripts de mining

i don't use adblocks, i use script blockers. So it blocks all javascript on a site, and you have to whitelist each script and domain one by one. Some work to get setup, but after awhile, you browse nice and safe

Wtf lol blocking javascript on websites in 2017 while 98% of modern websites are running almost fully client side this is just nuts lol. Must be fun filtering scripts out of websites made exclusively from javascript :run:

C'est un collègue qui m'a montré l'article la semaine passée je lui demanderai, mais ca disait comme quoi la presse (ou la presse plus?) avait du fermer le site completement pendant quelques heures parce qu'ils se sont rendu compte que leur site avait un mining script. De mémoire ca avait été introduit par des pubs ou quelque chose du genre.

it's nuts for the first 30 minutes, then all websites you regularly visit are all configured. Get around paywalls and stuff like that too. Great tradeoff for me
