Jeff Bezos is now the richest person of all time. That should put an Amazon smile on his face.
The Amazon CEO's net worth reached $105.1 billion Monday, according to Bloomberg's billionaire tracker. That eclipses the record previously held by Microsoft founder Bill Gates.
Forbes, the other major tracker of the net worth of the world's richest, put Bezos' net worth at a mere $104.4 billion.
The majority of that net worth comes from the 78.9 million shares of Amazon stock he owns. Shares of Amazon (AMZN) climbed 1.4% Monday, adding about $1.4 billion to his net worth.
Shares of Amazon (AMZN) are up nearly 7% so far in this year after rising 56% in 2017.

Bezos' other holdings include the Washington Post and Blue Origin, a private space travel business that intends to take tourists to space.
Bezos grabbed the title of world's richest person in July, when he briefly passed Bill Gates. He moved back ahead of Gates in October. He first crossed the $100 billion net worth mark in November at the start of the holiday shopping season, once again helped by stock performance of Amazon.

The Microsoft founder is now worth $91.9 billion according to Forbes, and $93.3 billion by Bloomberg. That's still enough to keep the No. 2 spot on both lists of richest people. But Forbes reports that his net worth was briefly above $100 billion back in April 1999, when the internet stock bubble helped to inflate the value of his holdings. Adjusted for inflation, $100 billion in 1999 would be worth $148 billion today.

But even without adjusting for inflation, Gates would still be worth far more than Bezos if not for his significant charitable contributions. Bloomberg said its analysis of his publicly disclosed donations shows that Gates has given away 700 million shares of Microsoft, worth $61.8 billion at today's value, as well as $2.9 billion in cash, which would put his net worth over $150 billion

=======

This blows my mind.. 100 billion... I mean if his stock goes up 1% he makes 1 billion dollars.
On this planet there are people who really live on a different level. There are the 1 percenters, upper crust of society... and then there is Bezos who makes what these 1percenters are worth in a single day. Simply WOW.

Whats even crazier is the fact that a familly like the Rothschild are worth 300+ billions but they worked for this money for 250 years...Gates and Bezos did all this in the 21st century within a lifetime lol

And this is BEFORE they came out with a new business model that is azure/amazon services, these will blow out any previous numbers they did it’s not even funny. They are milking cows that are just starting being used :O

Visionnaire!

also mind blowing is how messed the economy is; example if you make 100K p/yr You are in the Top 5% (or rich) lolwut! knowing people that earn this, they don't feel rich & they certainly aren't. 525K puts you in the 1%

in the mid 90's a simple savings account was paying 7% interest, so it was worth it to live below your means & save

Apparently between 70k and 100-150k income, it doesn't really change much in quality of life.

And interest rates are bad but the stock market is still giving strong returns.

http://content.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,2019628,00.html

JUST TO CLARIFY, he is not the richest person in HISTORY, just the richest right now!

Augustus Caesar once had a personal wealth equivalent to 1 fifth of his empire's economy, which would translate to 4.6 trillion in today's $ value... which... let's not kid eachother, it's insane. Andrew Carnagie being closer to us had a wealth of 372 billion when he sold his company. Rockerfeller was worth 371.

So the man's getting a divorce and nobody cares why/how/when all we wanna know is how much is the wife going to walk away? based on his 137B networth and assuming no pre-nup. .... she could get as much as 66 Billion dollars.

66 billion.... my head just shut down trying to compute how much money that is. Also she will be in the top 10 richest people in the entire world.
