Anyone here work at GM and is able to tell me the dealer replacement cost for the main drivetrain items on the 2012 CTS4 3.0l DI?
The reason is that the GM warranty on it is up next month and I can extend it for another 4 years to 160.000km (car has 103.000km now) for 3000$+tx, this is the actual GM warranty - has 200$ deductible but is valid at all GM dealers across Canada and the US.
That would bring it to 2022 until the warranty expires although the mileage we do with it is probably going to bust the 160.000km before that.
To make an educated decision I need to know the cost of replacing the "big" parts like transmission or trans axle. Beyond that it becomes a "betting game" where I bet something major will fail by 2022, badly enough to cover the 3000$ cost.
For example: A new transmission is between 4000~5000$ which would pay the warranty.
The car runs good, no issues there - on the actual Cadillac forums they recommend taking any GM extended warranty is offered because the CUE system fails often and replacing it is about 4000$CDN but I don't have the CUE on my model year (thankfully!)
I plan on keeping the car for a long time, like 10 years or more depending.
Thanks.
[edit] the deductible is actually 200$ not 250$ like I thought originally.
