Any proposition to remove semi-autos/shotties will be completely ignored by pro-gunners as it defeats pretty much all their arguments and they have to go back to their last resort shitty argument lol : Yeah but doing this wouldn’t fix the real problem, guns don’t kill people, people do! It would stop most shootings everywhere in the country yeah, but what about all those minds that won’t be fixed!

Everyone would have their pistol for protecting their family from bad guys trying to murder them while stealing their TV, everyone would have their rifle for hunting, their shitty amendment would still be respected because no where does it states you should be allowed to have semi-autos and shotties lol so yeah, they will most likely try to convince you that people should still be able to have semi-autos and shotties, and instead we should do background checks and mental checks, as if these will prevent a normal gun owner to fry a fuse once in a while because as Jim Jefferies said «*Sometimes, you know, people get sad...*»

Oh come on, Australia did it no fucks given (yes I know they were at 30 weapons per 100 people, they have a different "culture" but who gives a fuck), they paid back people for every single weapon how is this impossible? It's a shitload of money for the gouvernment to ditch out but if they can put 600 billion dollars into the military budget they can surely afford it.

Now let's say we put aside the "how to", if let's say, it was doable, are you saying you would agree that the result would be a good solution?

There's an inherent fallacy to comparing different countries in such a manner. When people say oh we should be more like Japan, well you need Japanese people to be like Japan. You can't just copy their behavior and expect the same outcome. So yeah it worked in australia, but australians are different than americans.

Australia doesn't nearly have the same attitude towards gun as america does.

I would even say that taking away all the guns vs. a reward would work here in Canada.

I would suggest to try it in the case that turning in the guns is done on a voluntary basis
 
Australia is much more homogeneous than the US; they don't have the poverty epidemic the US has.

I understand this, but we can't just pretend that everyone will risk everything they have and turn into criminals from one day to another simply because they are pissed that the government is asking for their semi-autos, this is not an hollywood movie, stop acting like all pro-guns will turn from responsible gun owners to murderers because of a law lol, there is surely a way to do it properly.
