Was reading this on another forum. BC NDP gov is launching a total war on the automobile

As of April 1st 2018:
PST on Vehicles valued over $125,000.00 will increase to 15% from the current 10%.
Vehicles valued over $150,000.00 will increase to 20% PST from the current 10%
New Tax policies apply to both new and pre-owned vehicles
Private sales and gifts of vehicles will attract 12%

The 12% is regardless of year, make , model. Luxury tax still applies for used

BC sont rendu socialistes.

Les gens vont sacrer leur camp en Alberta.

Taxes on a used car when the first buyer already paid the taxes in full is the biggest scam ever

PST is only collected once where I live. IE Whenever the car is first purchased or imported into the province. Once it's paid, it's paid. It no longer applies to future transactions.

What the fuck.... There's a reason why it's a percentage from the getgo... it's because it increases as the value of the car increases... why the fuck would you increase the percentage as well... its fuckin retarded... money laundering or not... if there's money laundering happening, putting in rules that impact ALL of the population is clearly not the way to go...

What the fuck is wrong with the world...

If anything the percentage should decrease as it gets more expensive...

It's hardly all the population, what percentage of the population drives a car worth $125k+?

I think the rational is that, when laundering money you give up a % to clean it, by making it 5-10% more expensive to launder said money it might not make sense anymore.

The amount of FOB's driving around in exotic's with N stickers out in Vancouver is stupid frankly.

Money laundering is a simplification of questionable Asian money pouring in to BC. First it was real estate, now it's cars. Inb4 fancy restaurant taxes +15%. For houses, their heads would have rolled if they didn't limit it to foreign buyers because most of the population is looking to buy at one point. Can't say the same for 100k+ cars.
