so... you would not want to have 3 super star players that strap your team for years but win 3 cups. you would rather have guys with character and tons of cap space, and not win anything ever. well then, you're Bergevin's #1 fan. attitude, character, this team will have it all.
I'm not sure if you are aware, but the Marlies won the calder cup. The Rocket did not make the playoffs. but they have character!
Also in the 'not sure if you knew' category, but Montreal already has 2 players in superstar salary range. They are in the same hole Chicago is in except for 2 factors:
1. Chicago has 3 rings.
2. Montreal has all the 3rd liners in the league and therefore lots of cap space. The odds of winning when you got decent players making decent salaries are better than if you have 2 superstars then a bunch of nobodies paid less and cap space. The cap space had 0 goals and 0 assists last year. Who exactly is the Hossa of the habs? Saad? Anisimov?
