Quite false. I just had work done on my basement by a company that was borrowing the RBQ license from another. I got completely screwed. Lawsuit is still going on. As far as the CCQ goes they went around shutting down their operations wherever they saw their signs, my house included. Was it my fault for not thoroughly searching the RBQ license? Sure. Nevertheless they were using undocumented workers who have no idea what they are doing. I ended up going with an actually registered company with registered workers and I now have a gorgeous basement. I also had foundarion work done on all the support beams. When I spoke to the second contractor I finally saw what knowledge was.
To add, I actually hunted down their signs and went to peoples houses to ask their opinion of the company. Most got screwed. So it’s not just me and there’s no «*two sides of the story*». They are scam artists.
I understand what you're saying but you have to be in the business to understand that the RBQ and the CCQ are a complete scam. The exams to obtain the licences can be done by 3 year olds and they give them away to whoever wants them. I know a lot of people with no license who do much better work than people with the license. It's case to case but it's a general consesus among construction business that both these governmental organizations do nothing good for the industry and only drive up the costs.
