The annual Gregster car related vacation live thread.

Summer is too expensive , too hot and too many tourists. I've always done Europe in late spring or now. We are in Damuls Austria now at an Alpin Hotel. We drove to the next town and had pizza for dinner 20€ with drinks.. pretty local place. Owners wife and my gf started speaking in Italian lol suddenly the glass of red wine turned into a jug. We don't like staying in the large cities

I'm not sure if the photos are broken but here are just a bit more

i'd like to go at fall too, but my gf having university classes makes it hard. Actually she has summer classes and fall classes, so we'll only have a small span from mid july to end of august...

Figure out what you want to do now and start looking for airbnbs. You can also score decent airfare early enough. Don't bother taking long distance trains in Europe, they are expensive because of tourists. You are better off booking intra Europe flights on Ryanair or easy jetz early enough they are dirt cheap. Best way to get around is by car

You'll need vignettes for Austria Switzerland, CZ and some other places. If you stick with regular roads you can avoid them. Example the vingette for Switzerland is 50€ Austria isn't bad at 8€... We used secondary roads which might have added a little time but you see so much more of the country and fuel will be cheaper... Yea if you are totally travelling across the country then it's worth it otherwise stick to small roads.

Fuel will about 15-25c cheaper off the main highways. Washrooms will be pay per use almost everywhere in public, there are free public ones off main highways but the .50c ones at gas stations are spotless.

Use small bills when making small purchases... Like 50€ note for 20€ bill might cause the shop keep or cashier to give you attitude. Coins are good to have also, see washrooms. In Germany, Austria, Italy cash is king. Yea cards are accepted but if you have dinner at a small mom and pop resto it's best to pay cash.

We are here for a other week

C'est donc bin pas cher a comparé ici.

Pour l'alcool c'est l'esti de SAQ qui prend une quote $$$ de fou sur chaque produit.

It's good that you're driving around. More freedom to explore the country. As mentioned, I refused to drive since I don't understand the roads at all, but between bus, train, and planes, and with only a backpack, I was fine. Thanks for sharing!

What was hard to understand? Yea country roads are super narrow but for the most part driving is about the same as back home

Dear God does the front end of that rolls SUV remind me of the bad Rolls Royce conversions that were popular on Chrysler 300s +-10 years ago...

Wow les Audi Quattro!

Incroyable à quel point Audi a de l'histoire en sport automobile, et ce, de toutes les facettes et catégories

It was small but very well presented. 2€ entry and free parking. We roamed around the compound for about an hour after we left the Musuem, not a single person bothered us.

Headed into Ingolstadt for a couple drinks and Primark. The bottle was 87c
