Weekly Discussion #2 - 6/15/2018 - Cannabis Hyperemesis Syndrome
A controversial topic that deserves attention. Cannabis Hyperemesis Syndrome is characterized by cyclic vomiting that is aborted by hot showers and/or capsaicin topical creams. Taking breaks from Cannabis use can stop it completely. And people affected are able to use Cannabis again after they take a break.
There has been a hypothesis floating around that CHS is caused by pesticide contamination. This hypothesis has only anecdotes and no data or evidence to back it's conclusions.
There has been peer reviewed research that has discovered the cause is TRPV1 deactivation from excessive Cannabis use. This is how and why hot showers and capsaicin abort the symptoms. I do not have the link to that research on hand, but I am sure it will be posted in the comments.
Have you been personally affected by CHS? Or are you a researcher with information to share? We invite everyone to participate in a respectful and professional discussion

CHS is caused by TRPV deactivation from excessive THC use. Which is how and why hot showers and capsaicin abort the symptoms.
It is fully reversible if the person affected takes a few months off.
It is not caused by pesticides or synthetic cannabinoids.
The symptoms for pesticide/neem poisoning are neurological. If people with CHS also were having seizures and other neuro symptoms then neem would make sense. But it doesn't because there are not neurological symptom with CHS.
