Hey all,
So I'm sort of curious about your personal experience with Ford's current Powerstroke V8 diesel and Triton V10 gas engines, as well as their 6-speed Selectshift trans. How were reliability of each of these powertrains? What sort of issues did you encounter over the life of the truck? Any maintenance hassles beyond oil, filter and plugs?
I was briefly reading someone's experience of having to remove the entire cab of a Super Duty to gain access to the Powerstroke motor for serious maintenance. Is this a thing? And is this necessary to do, and is it frequent maintenance?
Any other gripes about the Super Duty truck in general? Suspension issues, torsional issues...etc.
I know they're going to replace the Triton with a new 7.3L gas V8, which should be more compact (hopefully lighter too) as well as a new Super Duty 10-speed auto, but I'm not as interested in that arrangement yet. I'm actually more interested about the outgoing Powertroke. (and also somewhat of the V10). It definitely sounds like an impressive engine, but I also often hear criticism about it.
