This was my battlefield 3 top of the line computer

My specs
I7 2600k
Evga gtx580
8gb ram corsair
256gb ssd
900watts psu

I tried apex and it runs like shit haha

You guys think I could just upgrade my GPU and be ok?

Do I really need to upgrade my CPU? I'm guessing newer CPU have different sockets so I would need to change mobo if I upgrade it.

I have read that the new 2060-70-80 cards have reliability issues..

What do you guys recommend to max those games at 1080p

Thx

Budget 1000$ to 1200$ before taxes if CPU needed.

600 before tx if not needed

x2 I have the same i7 2600k class CPU on my server, should be something like 3ghz. For gaming you need clockspeed.

If you want to be sure just upgrade de GPU for now and if you're not satisfied put the rest of your budget down for a new CPU/mobo/RAM combo. Keep your SSD or get a new one - they're cheap. Sell the old ones for parts on Facebook market.

El cheapo upgrade:
GTX 1660 Ti and overclock your cpu.

If it's not enough, then you might start looking to upgrade your cpu and motherboard.

i have a i7 2600 with a 1050ti oc and it run Apex legend very easy.

No need to upgrade your CPU

Sinon new 1660Ti/2060.

I'd get a good CPU cooler if you don't already have one, and overclock the CPU to 4-4.2ghz
Swap out your gpu for a cheap RX580
Get yourself 16gbs of ram

Profit

If on a budget and you wish to squeeze the most and leave room for other upgrades, maybe a radeon RX580 is your best bet (8gb only), it is between a 1060 and a 1070 performance wise for less $$$ than a 1060. It takes more power but is easily undervolted if you have good cooling (sapphire makes very good ones, XFX not so much as an example).

AMD drivers can be a bit tricky and less stable than Nvidia but there is con / pros to everything, also wattman is great.

I am not a big gamer, I am running a undervolted RX580 and getting very good fps in AC odyssey and BF5, got it as my 1060 6gb was struggling a lot in those games. I know a 1070 / 1660ti is better but also cost twice more than a RX580 8gb.
