Planning on doing a preventive replacement of my rod bearings in my E90 M3, and possibly my E46 M3 and E39 M5... Waiting on oil analysis to come back from Blackstone

Is there a shop ideally in Quebec, or Montreal who's well known and reputable for doing this?

Thanks

Merci

Did you find a place in Montreal to tackle your S65 and S54? I'm looking for a place to do some work on my track prep'd E46M3. Anyone here in Montreal knowledgable on S54?

Spoke to the guys at Momentum, that's probably where I'll go. Seemed knowledgeable and great guys to deal with.

As tu fait tes bearings?

10w60 or 5w50 is fine. There is a huge debate online about this. I stick with 10w60...

You won't know if the bearings have been changed until the pan has been off. 100k on original bearings will look pretty grim... Some will be down to copper 100% unless it's been really really babied (doubtful). You can cut open the oil filtre and look for flakes etc. My rule has always been assume they haven't been done unless you have proof, a bill and photos. The bearings I posted are 30000km and 63000kms for comparison. I don't have 100k on this phone

I've heard of legends that worn bearings will cause oil consumption.

We use calico coated bearings with ARP rod bolts from VAC Motorsports.

I will stick with the 10w60 too. Thanks for all informations.

At your shop, how much can cost for this job approximately?

I will use this car this winter, it good if I stick with 10w60 grade oil?

I don't get involved with pricing only the work. At that mileage you will also need new engine mounts and gearbox mounts.

The big debate on oil is the 10w60 is actually too thick for the bearing clearances. Ive not used 5w50 in clients cars but people have brought it on their own

2010 car also prepare to have the throttles rebuilt or new ones purchased.

What about LCI bearing. Are they stronger since they changed the copper for a different material ...?
