Right now I'm looking a lot into the slightly used R's. I did not think it was within my budget.

Nobody is going to change my mind on the Veloster, it's gorgeous, they did an incredible job on this car don't forget it's the old M division chief that developed it and it's still a great contender.

Cependant pour la R, tu dois savoir que ça coûte pas mal plus cher en entretien. Surtout si ca dépasse ton budget initial, je pense que c'est important de prendre le tout en compte. Pneus, freins, c'est plus cher, tu a les flushs du haldex et de la DSG aussi, si manuel, prévoir une clutch.. tout ça s’additionne.. y'a aussi la conso qui est ordinaire!

Yep that's what most don't understand and sticking to a budget. I wanted a GTI but the sales people kept pushing the R.. it was out of my budget. Once I said that they no longer wanted to deal with me when for a GTi

Dans ton cas ça ressemble à quoi depuis ton achat?

Fais bientôt deux ans j ai la R et à part des changements d huile que je fais moi même (60$) au 10 000km et bientôt des pneus d été qui est de l usure normale j ai rien mit.

Dans 10k km ( 60 000km) j ai l huile de la DSG à faire qui est genre 400$ au dealer et 250-300$ dans les garages spécialisés VW. Pas la fin du monde..

La Veloster N est encore underground/ peu connu on sait pas ses points faibles et couts d entretien.

Les entretiens chez Subaru sont très cherant et fais les si tu veux être garantie lors des nombreux problèmes tu vas avoir LOL... espèce de magouilleur!

J'ai juste 45k km donc a date c'est juste du gaz et de l'huile. Je sais que dsg et haldex c'est environ 500$ au 60k km. Pour les pneus, j'ai switcher les 19'' OEM pour des 18'', moins cher et vraiment plus confortable! Pour les freins je sais pas pentoute, je m'attend a un bon 800$ en pièces! Mais sinon j'ai eu zéro problème depuis que je l'ai.

Closest one is 7 hours away.

My dealership will get one but only in Nov/December.

500$ chaque 60 000km c'est rien pour moi.

C'est 3 km pour aller au travail et on utilise notre truck pour faire du long trajet. Si je fait 15 000 km par année ce sera beau.
 
I had a mk5 GTI back in the day, and while I loved it, it wasn't perfect.

- Manual is a must; I found the DSG robbed it of fun;
- I wouldn't get 18s; they really felt too heavy. 17s max.
- It wasn't the most amount of fun I've ever had behind the wheel.
- Reliability was ok, but not great.
- It actually rusted worse than my Mazdas. lol

I think I'd try something else. I wonder how good the Mini is, but I heard reliability is a real issue with them.
 
Reliability on pre 2014 Minis is questionable. The F55 and F56 seem to be fine. Like I said that B48 engine is a gem, doesn't sound great but damn its responsive

Also you can't compare an Mk5 GTi to the current offering...

Either way Cooper S or GTI you will be happy with. GTi is the better platform though and better aftermarket. It was a hard choice for me but the Mini does feel better to drive

I've driven a mk6 and mk7 GTI. They're better and faster, but I don't feel like they're that much more fun. Kinda neutered steering feel and a bit too big and insulated. They're great cars and they're finished really well. I'm sure they make for quick and phenomenal dailies. But I don't feel like "fun" is a top 5 priority with the GTI.

My argument is that the car is interesting, looks fun, op likes it, op gives no fuck about badge or resale so go for it. Dont be stuck with a blend golf/gti like every other ticoune on the road, be a different ticoune

En fait, le modèle N de la veloster et I30 sont d'excellentes voitures et elles en offrent pas mal pour le prix. C'est juste que la veloster n'est pas pratique et discutable au niveau du look...

wais, je ne comprend pas c'était quoi le but de faire un produit attrayant pour l'europe, et un vraiment moins attrayant pour l'amérique du Nord. C'est toujours comme ça, et j'ai l'impression que ça se vendrait tellement mieux en bodystyle Élantra GT, ou i30. Une version Fastback existe de la i30...mais surtout pas ici; too cool for school.
 
Meanwhile I don't like the look of the i30n and I LOVE the Veloster, it's almost as if looks are subjective guys.

In Europe they want the Veloster, we always want what we cannot have.

I am coming to this conclusion based on several summers and winters spent in Montreal and around.
You're gonna be driving on ice 1% of your mileage
You're gonna be driving on snow 5% of your mileage (maybe 8% if you're living further North)

That leaves you with over 90% of your mileage spent on tarmac = enjoy it and drive the car that's best enjoyable in the predominant driving conditions.
