So bought a Certified Pre-Owned 2015 Mini Cooper Countryman from Mini Mont-royal on Jean-Talon. Got extended platinum warranty for 5 years. Anyhow check-engine light shows up 3 days into my purchase and a radio button just pops off as well. Simple fix but since I'm under "warranty" I've mentioned this to them when I went to service the check-engine light.

They come back to me that to fix a radio button, one tiny radio button (basically a clip-on) will cost... 2,100$!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Because they claim they'll need to replace the whole freakin radio! But what about the "certified" vehicle or the "extended platinum" warranty?!?!?!

To make things worse, I can't install my own plug&play radio since it'll void this "extended warranty" which seems useless to begin with...

Used to be a fan of mini's but after this car I think I'll stay FAR AWAY!

What about you go see another dealer?

I don't know but they claim if I install my own radio it'll void the warranty, so shouldn't this radio be under warranty. But what's funny is they claim this car to be "certified" so shouldn't this button be fixed? I only had the car for exactly a week. The car is at the shop now for that check-engine light so can't take a picture but it's the button for the sound settings:

I can fix it myself it's a simple glue on and it'll look just as new, I was just confused why they made me pay for an extended warranty claiming it covered everything (except wear and tear of course like brakes, suspension, muffler, etc) plus claiming they did over 3k$ in certified maintenance/repairs but that freakin tiny button they want 2100$ for cuz it's not covered nor they allow me to add my own stereo cuz I'll void their useless warranty.

Basically your certification (extended Mini warranty) doesn't cover your radio because Mini chose not to include that component in their warranty, just like Hyundai when they offer a bumper to bumper 5 years warranty included in a purchase of a new car but the radio is covered for 1 year or 20,000 kms. It's sad but it happens. Not necessarily the dealer's fault. You should look on ebay for that single button. Does it seem broken? How did it come off? It just fell?
