Hi everyone, we currently have a 2011 foester and looking to possibly get a 2015 and up outback.

I’m curious to know how the new cvt trannies are on these cars? Good? Not reliable?

How is the oil consumption? Our forester is thirsty!

Thanks
Fab

Hi Fab,

Back in 2015 i traded my wrx for a 2015 outback limited 2.5, i had to get something family wise but it had to be a subaru lol
Currently im near 70k kms and absolutely no signs of oil consumption but i keep getting my oil changes at 5-6000kms, the only maintenances it required was brakes (only pads, no discs) , its still our daily drive/ go anywhere vehicle ( with 2 adults 2 kids)
its paid so i plan to keep it until it die hehe, but looking for a wrx/sti to add to the stable next year :)
call me crazy but i still like the cvt, i have a new tacoma too and pretty much hate the auto tranny in this one!
they extended the cvt warranty to 10 years if i remember

cheer!

I had a 2.5 and a 3.6.

Take the 3.6 without a doubt! CVT is ok and mine has a warranty extension up to 10years if im not mistaken.
