I like the exterior a lot. It's the first time I like a new gen Golf before it's for sale. Usually I need some 'getting used to'.
...but the interior...I have a problem with so many interiors lately. Fucking touch screens and heat-sensitive controls are THE dumbest fucking thing ever to be installed in a car. Especially if that car sees winter. That's all the new Golf has now. And a digital cluster instead on an analog one. Analog will always be much classier looking than a screen. You don't need more info displayed in front of you; you need a simple intuitive machine that works every time.
What the fuck is wrong with regular buttons and knobs for the radio and HVAC controls??? Jesus. I hope this dumb fab dies soon. Mazda got rid of their touch screen for the mk4 Mazda3 and it's better. My car has both the touch screen part (which fucked up and would touch itself repeatedly after 4 years, replaced under warranty) and a physical control knob. I only use the knob.
It's like we're tryjng to reinvent things that worked perfectly fine.
I'm kinda curious about the drivetrains we'll get in Canada, but if we don't get a manual gasser OR the eGolf, the Golf will officially be out my scope for good.
