Laugh all you want about windshield washer fluid and spare tire changes but unless you're dumping the oil in the sewer like an asshole, it's a PITA. You have to go to the store pick up some oil and filters, come back, jack up the car, drain the oil, hope you don't spill any of it anywhere while you pour it into some kind of extra jug you had to keep lying around because the container you just used to fill is never perfectly empty and then you have to lug said used oil to a drop off point. Instead you can roll into a garage pitch them the key and in less than an hour roll back out with a nice printed sheet that looks good in the service record for when you sell the car.
All this for maybe a $30 premium over the cost of the oil and filters. Unless your making minimum wage, or you really enjoy working on your car, it just doesn't make sense for people to do their own oil even if they know how.
What are you talking about? I said add oil, not oil change... When picking up a new car the delivery person focuses on how to pair your phone vs critical systems or basic where to add washer fluid. Better yet complete lack of even flipping through the owners manual. I'm not expecting you to read the entire book but you should know where to add a liter of oil or where to open the hood when needed...
