Fac on va faire plaisir a ma vieille mere !

So I'm a little bit under 40, I have yearly health checks with no known issues that would be a problem if getting covid/flu/cold/etc... , I don't intend to travel for the next few years, I have no one close to me that is "at risk of developing complications" (to my knowledge of course, I don't know the personal health history of everyone close to me) and has not been vaccinated. I'm also "ocd" about washing my hands, cleaning anything before putting it in my mouth... etc... Also if I'm ever sick or have any symptoms/suspect of having something, I'm extremely careful not to spread my bugs and usually stay home anyway... I was doing all this before this covid shit [EDIT: I don't work with the public (work from home in IT) and I avoid crowded places]

I haven't gotten vaccinated yet, I'm not 100% this is a good decision obviously, but besides ethical/societal reasons, I'm having a hard time justifying to myself to get vaccinated as of right now, as a note I have all my vaccines, so does everyone around me.
In my case would you take the vaccine and why? btw. in no way this is a question to argue anything in regards to the vaccine, I'm really looking for your opinions, thanks

In short, vaccination is the only way to develop mass immunity. If enough people refuse to get vaccinated, they may reach a critical mass and screw up the efforts to eradicate the spread of the virus. Just look in states like Florida or Texas where the vaccination rate is low and Covid is spreading again.

So I went last week (per my other post, blacked out, woke up in a stretcher 11 minutes later.)

I did it for my son, I didn't want to be barred from places like the BioDome, he is only 2 and has dealt with enough of this lockdown shit.

That being said, once masks come off and everything goes "normal", cases will start again. You only need to ask yourself if

A: you are happy living an isolated life?
B: while EXTREMELY low, do you want to deal with the possibility of developing complications from covid if it hits you hard.

ok but once you get it you become immune? same as with the vaccine, not sure the effectiveness of the vaccine for new strands like the delta versus your natural body immunity. So I don't mind taking on my responsibility as a member of society, just not sure if it actually helps.
Btw. New York, LA, etc.. have also seen spikes...
Also, obviously there are people that don't want the vaccine(anti-vax), others that can't (ex: some disease or something they have), others that think they don't need it, but do (that's the group I'm afraid to fall in... as mentioned good health and I truly do have health checks every year because of other stuff that has no link with covid, but you never know...), etc... those will get sick and end up even dead without the vaccine, so those examples will continue to pour in... but not sure it's representative of the actual consequences for most people within the age/health range where the risks from the virus are extremely low to die from.

It's not an easy decision, I'll probably end up getting it as most people, guess if something is wrong with the vaccine long term we would be a bunch in the same boat and a lot of effort would be put to find solutions.

From what I've seen it looks like anywhere from 90-95% of people of new cases are people who are not vaccinated.

The vaccine doesn't make you 100% immune but it reduces the effects of the virus on your body and prevents you from getting really sick. It does boost your natural immunity so there is an actual benefit from getting vaccinated.

The variants appear when enough people get infected and to allow the virus to mutate. Since vaccines reduce the transmissibility of the virus, they do help prevent the appearance of new variants.
