Can anyone tell me if I fly within Canada, I will be subject to the same quarantine bullshit? Or is it like taking a bus within the country?

Hi xxxxxx,
Let me explain how this works. The only reason why Pfizer and Moderna opted for a 21 and 28 day 2nd shot schedule was the pressure to speed up the third phase trials so they could get approval of their respective vaccines the earliest possible. There was really no clear science behind picking that schedule. We now know having had over 6 months experience with those vaccines that the first dose produces an immune response within 2-3 weeks after injection.
This immune response is 100% effective in preventing death from Covid and abut 90% effective in preventing infection. It is also effective in stopping viral transmission to other people. What is really interesting is that this immune response does not decrease over 4-5 months but remains at the same initial level. The second dose of the vaccine DOES NOT increase the immune response but only prolongs it (for how long, we do not yet know but probably at least a year).
Here in Quebec mainly due to the scarcity of available doses our public health people decided in January that we will space out the two doses by 3-4 months so we can vaccinate twice as many people. This was a gamble at the time (however based on prior knowledge of vaccines and corona virus behavior) but it paid off because data coming out of Israel, UK and other European countries that adopted the same protocol, showed that it works.
Pfizer and Moderna will not openly support the idea of changing their initial dosing schedule because their studies and data are based on their original schedule. We believe that giving the second dose later is sound science and in fact probably produces a more robust and lasting immunity than the original schedule.
As far as mixing the vaccines, except for Pfizer/Moderna (which are both mRNA vaccines) is not yet advisable because there is absolutely no data to support that move. Theoretically, one can postulate that two different vaccines generating different immune responses may provide a wider scope of immunity, there is no evidence to support this and in fact may cause excessive immune responses which can potentially cause cascading allergic reactions similar to what Covid can cause in some unlucky patients. So i would definitely advise against doing that! Rest assured that Pfizer’s vaccine works very well (even against the new variants) and that there is nothing lost in not getting the second dose before July.
