As for you being able to get back to normal, she isn’t even recommending that after we hopefully have 75% of the population fully vaccinated this fall.
“If 75% of those eligible for vaccines have received a full COVID-19 vaccination series. Then local public health will be able to lift more measures and you should be able to do more activities indoors with people outside your household,” the federal government’s website states.
That means that if we hit that level then we could have family gatherings, college classes could start again and we could have indoor sports.
If you thought that Trudeau’s snappy slogan of a “one-dose summer” meant that you would be able to somewhat get back to normal then think again.
On Friday morning the news broke that Toronto was cancelling every major in-person event until Labour Day. That means no concerts, no sporting events, even the CNE will be cancelled once again.
It’s a scene repeated across the country.
In Vancouver the PNE is cancelled, in Montreal they have moved the Jazz Festival to September in the hopes of saving it while Just for Laughs will stream comedy from New York and Los Angeles this year. The Calgary Stampede says they will still go ahead but even if that does happen, it won’t be the same with masking and social distancing rules and a lack of American visitors and competitors due to the current two-week quarantine requirement.
As the Brits open wide, as the United States continues to lift restrictions, we hope to be able to see friends and family outside while wearing a mask according to health officials. They tell us we could come close to a normal fall but will still have restrictions.
This is Justin Trudeau’s one-dose summer and two-dose fail.
