I get what you mean, but I think you are confusing equity with equality.
If I look at myself for example, I did not have any impact (yet) as I am able to work from home, meaning I still have 100% of my income, why would I get to touch the 2000$ like everyone else or any kind of bonus, just because people who needs it were able to have it? Equality in this case would mean everyone gets something as you suggest, equity in this case would mean people in need would get the 2000$ in order to be able to survive like those who aren’t impacted at all and got to keep their income.
A picture is worth a thousand words, the one below can’t be better at describing what I am trying to say :

Let me start off by acknowledging that I fully understand that overall life is not fair and things are not perfect. However, that doesn't mean some parts can't be fair nor that we should stop trying to be better.
My argument is that in this moment, those who are well off, they should not get a check, but in the long run when things clear up, something should be done to balance it.
That picture is great to explain things generally. I've seen it before but what's missing is still a bit of context. If the tall guy is the big earner and the short guy is a low income earner and the boxes are government money, what's missing is the fact that the government previous took the two boxes from the tall guy, gave it to the little guy and now they're thinking about giving the medium and short guy another box, while still taking them from the tall guy. At what point can the tall guy say "fuck off"? In the pursuit to be a little more fair, give the tall guy that "extra" box by allowing him to keep one because he can maybe use it later when changing a lightbulb or reaching the top shelf.
Or better yet.. They get a temp raise and it puts them into a different bracket!
What was it almost 400 million to first nations ?
Income tax is progressive. Being in a different bracket just means that the money past the previous threshold gets taxed more, not the totality of your income. Generally speaking, You’ll never make less money making more money solely on account of income tax.

Yeah, this comes down to the credits / other benefits rather than the actual tax rates themselves. I can see this happening to a family with kids and the like where you no longer "make the cut" for some programs.
ta jamais market price ya toujours des frais
And you find it fair? It's not fair at all but they don't want to calculate all the possibility so they fuck us hard. a 30 000 par anne tu as droit a de l'internet subventionne mais pas a 30 001, voir que la piasse change de quoi, allez vous faire foutre.

Socialist Canada, once again fucking over the hard working professionals that are still on the job by continuing to tax their salaries while providing $2,000/month to people who they've technically deemed not critical enough to keep society functioning.
Look, I know people need the money and I personally have family out of a job because of this situation (not against it) but what a slap in the face it is to those still working who are not going to see a single cent of relief, especially healthcare workers on the front line. They don't need to cut checks now but next tax season they ought to give a non-refundable tax credit to anybody who didn't take EI in 2020.
Fiouf
