Noticed mild fever (99.5) 10 days after likely exposure. No other symptoms so ignored.
3 days later, some aches and pains, still low fever. Starting to feel "sick" for the first time.
1 day later, lost sense of taste, uh oh. Sick level = head cold, so decided to ride it out at home.
4 days later, worse, not better. Fever 101. Chest tight. Went to PCP who did the test, gave antibiotics and sent home, told to call ER if worse. (test came back positive 6 days later, long after he was hospitalized)
2 days later, feeling progressively better, maybe the antibiotic is working?
1 day later, huge turn for the worse, very hard to breathe. Fever 102.
1 day later, went to ER. blood ox 83. Bilateral pneumonia.
Isolated, IV fluids, 5 liters O2/min, daily "Trump Pills"
4 days later, sent home with O2 tank.
2 weeks later, much better but still recovering.
Interesting things to note:
He started getting better before he got really bad.
Peak worst was 21 days after exposure.
Recovery is slow, takes weeks.
He wishes he had gone in as soon as he lost his sense of taste. His other tip is to stay as hydrated as possible as that was an issue with everything else going on
