Unfortunetly there is also the fact that new graduates only want to work 20hrs a week and no have to share the guard shifts.
My dad is 70. He has been director of department for couple of decades at the hospital. He's trying to pass on the flame, but every year they call him back cause the younger doctors are either not available (on vacation), dont want the extra work (dat family life is so important), or they just quit because of too much workload.
Ps..my uncle retired last year after running director of department of obstetric at the St-Luc hospital. Exact same situation. Old doctors worked their life at the hospital for 60hr+ (with the fubar administration), young doctors are just not there.
