La pire réforme de la Santé

But all hospitals would have fierce competition if they were all private, so the costs would go down and service quality would go up.
You WANT profit to be the first objective of any hospital. Anyone that runs a successful company knows that more profit comes from more satisfied customers. And to have satisfied customers (patients), you would need to offer the best service, the best installations, cleanliness and the best staff.
You are infuckingsane. Medical services are a social right and social benefit which profits aren't even important. Proper treatment is. The issue is our tax dollars fund the system and the general population doesn't want to pay more or don't want to pay simple user fees. Healthcare is within the top 3 expenditures in Canada, Federally and Provincial

Only if you are rich or have proper Insurnace. If not you are at the mercy of handouts and 2nd tier locations. You don't get massive wait times because people who have a colf aren't clogging up the ER or Clinics

False. The problem is people are living longer, the older you get the more it costs to keep you living. This is what's happening in Canada and the UK as well. Now toss in new arrivals.. not a pretty situation

People living longer Yes of course is a major problem but also Diabetes has never been a high in the US. Complication of the disease cost a lot to the health system.

But you may already know that there is a cure for it. Insuline company bought it several year ago. They still wanna get their billion from the insuline instead of releasing the cure.

Good read

We're talking about keeping the carte soleil in this thread.

Also for your profit argument. While that may be true, I can tell you for a fact that receiving care in an american hospital looks like a 5star hotel experience compared to what we have here

Yea but you pay for the service. Not all hospitals are like in the usa. What we need in Quebec is effective healthcare with good care not a spa treatment... If you are in CHUM or MHUC for a proper matter it's actually pretty good these days.

Privately run hospitals
Bills are sent to the government

All people get treated "free"
All hospitals are top notch

I don't know better than anybody. Just giving my arguments and opinion.
But I shouldn't need to explain to you the obvious reason why the government wouldn't want privately run hospitals.

MHUC is shit.

Management is shit.

The building is nice that’s it.

Went in for my finger at the glen, well turns out they aren’t a trauma center so I had an oncology resident try to fix my finger and now I have to see a plastic surgeon. Triage said “why aren’t you at the general, thats where trauma is” and wouldn’t let me leave To go there instead.

Also the biggest problem in Quebec are the stupid PREM. The damn practice permits.

Doctors are graduating but can’t practice because old ass fuck head doctors are doing 3 months a year and fucking off to the beach for 9 months. The college des médecins won’t ever do anything to protect their old friends.

It’s such a shit show.

You can graduate and be spécialised in cardiology and not be able to do your specialization because of PREM availability in the Montréal area.

I’m not a doctor so I can’t comment much but this is what it is

J'ai un ami au States qui s'est cassé le bras, il paye 600$ par mois pour ses assurances et ça lui a quand même couté 2000$, c'est pas ce que j'appelle "ironclad health insurance" lol

2/3 of bankruptcies in USA are health-care costs

Number of bankruptcies last year because of healthcare costs:

USA: 530,000 (families)

CANADA: 0 (families)

Y'a même eu un documentaire sur le sujet , Un enseignant en chimie obligé de fabriquer du crystal meth pour payer ses traitements de cancer des poumons !

France has a single payer system. Their hospîtals are private. Wait time at the ER is 0.

Je mettrais tous les médecins à salaire pour commencer. Échelle de 120-200k pour les généralistes et 150-300k pour les spécialistes.

The wait time is also zero or not long because they have access to GPs and specialists much more easily. The ER is treated as an ER, not a general purpose medical clinic as it is in QC.. The triage system in place at hospitals is meant to weed out the crap. There is a huge lack of GPs or family doctors in QC so it forces people to visit the ER. All this talk in the thread and this is the first time that GPs/ Family medicine is mentioned...

Guys like Grim shit on QC or rest of Canada then move to USA and proclaim how great it was to their friends.

Unfortunetly there is also the fact that new graduates only want to work 20hrs a week and no have to share the guard shifts.

My dad is 70. He has been director of department for couple of decades at the hospital. He's trying to pass on the flame, but every year they call him back cause the younger doctors are either not available (on vacation), dont want the extra work (dat family life is so important), or they just quit because of too much workload.

Ps..my uncle retired last year after running director of department of obstetric at the St-Luc hospital. Exact same situation. Old doctors worked their life at the hospital for 60hr+ (with the fubar administration), young doctors are just not there.

Yup young doctors are giving lots of importance to self care, family care, etc.

Also most don’t like the college des médecins unlike the older generation.

Some young doctors want to be there but like I said aren’t given the opportunity because old doctors are sitting on permits and semi retiring themselves while some people can work
