After having a break-in at my parents a couple of years ago and see how similar situations has impacted people here, not that I agree with it, but I kind of see the point of "Vladimir Tepes" that was impaling thieves and apparently in his times you could leave anything of value on street corners and nobody would take it hahaa
 
I would not be surprised if she gets charged. Would be terrible though.
This is why I have always liked "castle" laws. Doubt we would ever have one in Canada though. In essence, if someone breaks into your house when you are home, they are fair game.
