    Vermiculite Removal

Started kitchen renos this weekend, big pile of vermiculite came down. Went into the crawlspace and first thing I see is a big bag of Zonolite, the brand contaminated with asbestos.

Anyone every have this stuff removed? Looking at LG4 Isolation right now.

I feel for you... How much sq footage? How easily accessible is the vermiculite?

Quotes will make you fall off your chair.

We had gotten a quote for 750 sq ft in an attic a couple of years ago, I think from LG4, was >$15k if I recall correctly. I believe it included going in from above (i.e.: opening the flat roof above).

Make sure you wear appropriate safety gear if you work around in this shit... at a minimum P100 half mask

You will see a huge disparity in between quotes. Some will also include encapulating the left overs some won't, some will include proper follow-up insulation job with vapor barrier, some wont... some will be "joe-blows" that will try to do the work through the bottom other will open the roof.

As an industry in general HAZMAT removal is a total gong-show.

Also, finding proper PPE to do this work now-a-day will be a real costly shit show.

Ah classic Zonolite. Do you have to remove it or can you work around it? I was always under the impression that if undisturbed it's no problem to have
