Condo - kids making noise -bothers my tenants - need input

Talk to your tenant, make them understand that you did your best and still working on this issue.
Ask them what can you do more to help the situation.
Tell them to call the police if they think the noise is too excessive (maybe they will realize that they are asking too much or police will make them realize it?)

It suck for them, but like other said, it's hard to control young kids.
The tenant also need to understand that.
The parents upstairs should at least try to make their kids run less.

Yes we ll talk again with tenants tonight. Try to reason and manage expectations.
The owners upstairs really seem to be doing everything they can. They also hired some specialist consultant to help them better manage the kids

Sorry dude, I don't think there's much you can do. I remember growing up in an apartment and my parents were always telling us to walk on our toes not to bother the people downstairs.
Then when I was in college I lived in an apartment where I swear the folks upstairs were either tap dancers or dancers for Michael Flatley's river dance.
People are selfish.... that's why I will never live in a place where I have neighbors upstairs.

It suck for OP, because even if the tenant leave the next tenant might complain for the same issue.
Hopefully over the years, the kids will grow and make less noise? But I wouldn't count on that.
Parents still need to teach their kids and hopefully over time, kids will understand.

Or get the perfect fit tenant for that unit, which is not easy.

I forgot ine item. We offered to buy a foam like material and give it for free to the owners upstairs to attenuate the impacts, but they refused.
Not sure we can do more than this at the moment.
We ll see how the discussion with tenants will go tonight

Looks like it's been more work for you to look into a non-issue then it would be to offer your tenants to pack it up and move on.

I think you might be better off with new, more reasonable tenants.

I know this is not always possible, but when I didn't have a kid and wanted to have a chance at sleeping, I always rented on the last floor so I wouldn't have anyone above, pretty logic no?!! Not saying it eliminates the noises from the other neighbors, but can't deny that not having someone above will end up with less noise disturbance. Than I got a kid, so moved at the lower level, when no one was under me and made sure the above tenants were calm with no young kids like me, I was lucky found a place where above were the owners of the block. After a few years I moved again this time last floor as my kid is older and less noisy... so I can enjoy a min. of piece and quiet, only neighbors are downstairs... , without being a nuisance to the people below.

In your case, are the up and down apartments the same? or close to? a little bit out there but have you asked if they want to switch places?

The units are all the same but each one is owned by a different owner

^ok I missed that :( oh well, what ever you do make sure it's well documented and have everything need it to back you up.

I think more than anything , there is education.
Now days, most people do not educate their kids to respect their parents and the surroundings.

Imagine you running like those kids at 6 am, what would have happened to you. Right ?
