Corvette C6

Go for the Esprit V8. A friend of mine in Ottawa owns one it's not horrible but he does pay a mechanic from the UK to come and service it every 2-3 years as it's cheaper.

When paying a guy to fly from the UK to come maintain your lotus is "cheaper"

Cheaper than what, buying a new Lotus on every oil change?

Better than getting hosed at the dealer or paying someone to try and figure it out... He comes with the correct parts, tooling and knowledge. Helps when you also have a lift in your garage as well. His friends friend also owns an Elise so services are split

This is the problem with lots of "toys" people want to own them but them moan about fixing them. So the logic of "well I only drive 3k during the summer so I don't need to do anything on my 15+ year old car"

Pay for the inspection on whatever you do buy at a specialist shop. Worth every penny. Never go in blind

I don't understand, how absolutely fucking orgasmic a lotus has to be to go through this much bullshit just to have track/weekend queen?

Modded e46 m3 don't work?
Modded MR2 don't work?
Modded Boxter S don't work?
Modded Cayman S don't work?

But hey, you get to tell people at dinner that you've got a lotus.

Humanity is an amazing thing.

You aren't going to the track in the Esprit you get a Lotus because you want a Lotus. You aren't cross shopping a Cayman. Not everyone wants a Cayman or an E46 M3. Sad part is even with the E46 M3 you are still looking at heavy maintence bill when you buy it as that low mileage example has fuck all done. I wouldn't even waste my time with an E46 going to the track these days not worth it. Get a 128i , better platform/ chassis and just need to put gas in it.

The internet is a fickle place sometimes...

My logic has always been you buy a corvette because it's cheap and does the job.
