Ça fait chier. J'aurais aimé vivre l'expérience d'un Grand Prix sans spectateurs, surtout sans les douchebags du Paddock Club.

Le 6 millions était pas pour eux mais pour que le promoteur ne perde pas d'argent s'il n'y a pas de spectateurs.

Except now it's more complicated because even if I do come to your yard, I won't let anybody watch so I won't really stimulate anything.

Legault en a parlé cette semaine dans une de ses points de presse.
1- Ils ont dit qu'ils pensaient que c'était possible de hoster le grand prix (sans spectateurs) malgré la situation (ça peux changer, mais c'est ce qu'ils ont dit il y a 2 jours)
2- Il a dit que l'interet c'est plus de respecter leur entente avec la F1 pour cette année pour secure l'entente 2022-2029.

Pour faire chier les résidents de Saint-Lambert. Ça justifie le 6 millions juste pour ça.

C'est pas la F1 qui paie les coûts et qui s'occupe de l'organisation du GP, c'est le promoteur local aka Octane. Octane fait son argent sur les billets, la bouffe, la marchandise, pourquoi il irait se mettre dans le trou de 6M$ s'il a aucune rentrée d'argent en retour? Qui devrait payer les dépenses du promoteur local, la F1 ou les différents gouvernements? La F1 veut surement pas faire un précédent en payant un promoteur et les gouvernements ont pas le gout de payer 6M$ par dessus le 14M$ qu'ils payent déjà...

Furthermore, they have yet to return ticket holders money from last year, many people have been out this money since 2019, over a year and are the promoter is waffling big time and no longer speaking to the media about this. Would not be surprised if the money from last year was squandered and this additional capital request is to refund peoples money. This for a massive media conglomerate worth over $100 billion with all their divisions and who's Chairman is worth over $10 billion. Embarrassing.

People who booked flights from Air Canada also have problems getting their money back. That didn't stop the federal government from writing a $6B check to Air Canada. Just saying....

Not even remotely close but at least it came with many conditions including salary caps, they get an equity stake at a big discount and the money has to be returned. Liberty want a free $6 million with no strings attached for the promoter. They can easily fund this themselves but as a typical corporation they'd rather the govt give it. Or maybe Greg Maffei can give something out his $47 million compensation from 2020. The ticket money from 2019-2020 has obviously been squandered.

Yea and one of the conditions is they need to refund passengers with the low interest loan money. What's your point? Its completely different

Je comprend les points du côté F1 à 100%, mais du coté de mtl, si tu n'a aucun boost touristique, aucun visiteur, nada je ne vois pas le point de payer, sauf si c'est pour sécurisé le le gp pour les années à venir.. dans l'article que j'avais lu sur lapresse, Plante disait que skippé le GP 2021 n'aurait aucun incidence sur les années prochaines pour la tenue du grand prix, aucune idée si elle disait de la marde ou non!

Come on, comparer la F1 avec des centaines de milliers d'emploi dans le secteur de l'aviation, c boîteux désolé...

The economics of F1 simply don't make sense. They never will. The problem is for most places it's a tourist draw (Asia, middle East and some of EU) Montreal is difficult to calculate accurately what it takes in. Yea it's a tourist draw but the majority of ticket holders are locals. Locals don't go out and stimulate the economy persay. While I might go out 1-2 times it's not for 5 days in a row. We will eat and drink on my deck.
IIRC there was a study done and Jazz Fest takes in more cash but it's a 2 week event vs F1 which is at most 5 days. I'm not worried about the event leaving, especially with the new paddock it's more the social benefit aspect that concerns me. The race in MTL is very important in terms of sponsors and tv time in Europe.
