2Tone 1986 Toyota MR2

did james end up with the celica? I could've sworn i saw it pass on his IG

lol yes i have been working on it but not as much.
So for this project, i’m looking to get 300whp. Nothing crazy. I know i can achieve that with stock block but i just can’t put something together with dirty parts. So do what i can with what i have. Somethings would be out-sourced and some diy. I am sorry if anything i do makes you cringe. lol

Chuck it on the lathe to polish the journals. Finished with 600 grit and i’m happy with it.

Borrowed the micrometer and did the rest of the work at home. This is a Type S crank. It’s pretty straight and the journals are all good condition.

Tomorrow i’m gonna finish cleaning my used type S rods and pistons and i’ll post some pictures here.

tu fais ce que tu peux avec ce que tu as hein? Clisss moi aussi jveux un tour a metal dans ma shop hahahah!! great job!

Nice build

would not go GT28RS disco potato, you gonna choke the engine, burn exhaust valves and put too much stress on the rod at low RPM, would go bigger exhaust side minimum T3 64 A/R like GT3067R-GT3071R

lol dans le sense de ne pas tout le fait faire par une shop à moins que je n’ai pas le choix.

That’s an interesting point. Do you mind elaborate? The reason why i don’t want to go GTX30 is because of cost and i want a quick spool at low rpm since this will be my summer daily.

Cleaned the pistons and rods of the old oil and carbon to see what i got here. Bought the set off ebay for 150$. It’s from a type s so it’s much stronger then what came out of the block. Got some rust on the rods so i’m gonna clean that off before putting it back together.

I was waiting for this tool for a month because it was stuck at customs. I said fuck it and bought an other one from amazon and got it 2 days later.

More i go forward, more i realize that i won’t make my deadline of this summer i’m afraid. Too much money to spend in the short time i have

Modded my parts washer. I use the biodegradable water based stuff. It works pretty alright. I even added an heater to bring up the temp.

Tried soda blasting today. It came out ok. It’l woon’t take off any corrosion.

Yesterday i drove 6 hours to get these cams. It was a decent deal lol

Well I like one project car, I don't think I want 0 or 2.

But I am curious for a taste of the dark side... eventually I should ask someone for a ride in a MR2.

Yeah itMs really fun to drive. My car was misaligned, automatic with a beat up engine and i still enjoy driving it and rev it up to redline. I can’t even imagine how it’s gonna feel all done up

That's a pretty low-volume tool, so it's basically pure profit.

What are those copper-looking things between the angle and the flat plate? Temporary rivets?

I am familiar with pop-rivets.

I've seen pictures of that before on aluminium, but I need to be edjumacated.
