Labor Shortage

I've been trying to hire a trailer mechanic for a month, and haven't gotten a single resume. 2 years ago I got one almost daily. Companies also seem to be offering salaries that I have never seen before, trying to poach people.

Is anyone else struggling to fill trades positions? I'm even seeing 2k signing bonuses offered.
 
On cherche 2 personne au ventes interne... on reçois juste de la marde.
Un chauffeur, encore de la marde ...

Fait plusieurs mois déjà
 
Moi je travaille pour la compagnie d’électricité et on as aussi énormément de misère à avoir des bons CV...

C'est un peu étrange en effet, une connaisance a une compagnie de paysagement. Les personnes qui appellent veulent juste travailler au noir pour garder leur PCU. J'ai l'impression que lorsque la PCU sera terminée il y aura une augmentation des chômeurs et que le marché de l'emploi va changer...

Un de mes chums a de la misere a trouver des bons charpentier compagnon... Fac il leur paye un truck...

Ca l'air fou mais, un Sierra Elevation ou un Trailboss c'est souvent en promo a environ 400-450$ par mois en location.


Pour lui c'est une dépense, ca reviens moins chere que de donner un plus gros salaire
L'employé capote ben raide pcq y'a un beau pickup neuf fournit

Est-ce qu'on peut parler de pénurie de main d'œuvre? De la main d'œuvre, il y en a en masse, il faut juste avoir un salaire et des conditions intéressantes.
 
On commence à voir des garderies qui ferment un groupe pour une semaine à cause du manque d'éducatrice... c'est capoté
 
employé pour 1 mois? bonne chan!
personne va cancellé son chomage/pcu, quitté un emploi existant pour 1 mois de job seulement.

Le pcu existe plus et l’autre pcu que le gouvernement a mis en place à une limite de semaine quand même courte...
 
Même chose ici, on essaie d'engager des machiniste ou même des jeunes sans expérience qui veulent apprendre et on les formes.

Beaucoup de gens qui veulent être payer cash a cause de la PCU. Veulent travailler 3-4 jours.
 
la PCU existe pas depuis septembre 2020.

le chomage vous pensez? Le monde fraude. vous voullez pas ce monde la, next.

mettons, quelquun qui est embarqué sur le chomage en octobre, maxed out a come 46 semaines max. donc d'ici aout le monde vont chier pour des jobs, en hiver...

c'est ca qu'on a fait. On est désespéré, on rappel le monde qui était bof-ok qui ont quittés en plus ou moins bons termes.

Augmente le salaire, donne 1 semaine de vacances et surtout on laisse 3 jours/sem de télétravail après covid, et pour les chialeux, on leur donne 5 jours...

on est aussi allé recherché de bons jack qui avaient déménagés loin de Montreal de cette facon ! À date, la concurence ne permet pas le télétravail apres covid ou bien ils n'ont pas statués encore.

Kinda bullshit but partially true depending on the business.
I say partially bullshit because there are quite a lot of people that come in and bullshit about what everyone else is offering them or what they were being paid on their last job.
Coliss, if you showed up for a posting where it clearly states what's offered, I guess nobody is offering you more??? haha.

If you are offering a position that pays similar money to what people can get while sitting on their ass at home, why bother?
Hence, if you really need workforce you have to keep looking hard for people that understand that sitting on their ass at home won't do them any good, OR pay the premium that will be more than the government pays them to do nothing due to covid.

Same situation here with general labour, shit is not even funny, I can't find ANYONE.
Welders come in and ask 75k with 6week vacation, etc.

It's a real shitshow.

Keep looking, there are gems, they're just harder to find now. Post on FB, community newspapers.
Recently I have been having a lot of luck with the chineese.

It's the other way around.

Depending on the industry, there is a relatively set market price for an item.
If all your material, time and labor costs more than you will be able to make on the sale, why bother?
That determines the salary available for a set position.

And let me tell you, with skyrocketing pricing for raw materials and standard components, there is less and less room left for salaries.

Two sided coin.

I'm in tanker trailer manufacturing. 3-4 years ago, a trailer mechanic got 18-20, no problem. Now, i'm seeing ads with 30$ an hour starting salary.

Like you said, material cost is skyrocketing, labour is the only thing you can play with. Kids out of school are looking for 25 an hour with 0 experience as non pressure welders.
