Ukraine invasion thread. (ww3?)

You cant "go out" with bonds. You need to wait until end of contract to get your money + interests. And gouvernemt have no issue re-issuing bonds when they are the one setting the rates. If nobody want to buy thr bonds, just raise the rates to attract investors. No investors ? Raise rates some more. Gouvernement funding becomes an issue ? Just raise tax LOL.

here's an explanation of where we are today. The Russians oligarchs were too busy pocketing millions, and they forgot about their sphere of influence. they lost the southern countries (Bulgaria, Serbia, Romania), as well as the baltics (Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania), but they woke up when they realized Ukraine was next, and the last one at their doorstep.

Bon ça s’enligne pour une guerre totale avec l’Ukraine.

Brace yourself pour le litre d’essence à 2$/L.

Except they don’t really fly over Canada as far as I know. They show up to the edge of the air defence identification zone which is past our borders.

And we scramble jets because that’s what the policy calls for.

It’ll be interesting to see what China does when Russia does whatever they’re about to do.

If it weren’t for the Olympics I’m sure they’d be jonesing to settle the Taiwan issue while the west is busy.

I think China will think twice since their spat with Australia hurt them alot more than they thought it would. As an aggressively growing economy China isn't as impervious to sanctions as people think they are.

Shit is getting real...

Vladimir Putin has signed a decree recognising eastern Ukraine’s Luhansk and Donetsk regions as independent entities — an explosive move that threatens to push the simmering crisis closer to all-out war.

The Russian president made the gesture live on television after an an emotional address in which he referred to eastern Ukraine as “ancient Russian lands” and said it was “managed by foreign powers”.

The move is likely to torpedo a last-minute bid for a summit to prevent Russia from invading Ukraine as it rips apart the existing Minsk peace treaty and gives Russia a pretext to send troops across the border.

The Kremlin had signalled its reluctance to recognise independence as it would damage the Minsk peace process aimed at ending the eight-year conflict between Ukrainian government forces and separatists that has cost 15,000 lives.

The rebel leaders in the Donbas earlier on Monday released statements urging Mr Putin to recognise them as independent states and sign friendship treaties envisaging military aid to protect them from what they described as an ongoing Ukrainian military offensive.

Russia’s lower house of parliament last week voted in favour of sending a resolution to Mr Putin to ask him to recognise the breakaway regions as independent.

Western powers fear that Russia will use a recent spike in violence in the two self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk and Luhansk as justification for an invasion of its neighbour - by arguing that it would be protecting residents there from Ukraine.

Shelling has intensified since last week along a long-simmering frontline between the pro-Russia rebels and Ukrainian forces. On Friday, the separatists started evacuating tens of thousands of civilians to Russia, accusing Kiev of planning an attack, which Ukraine denies as propaganda.

On the ground on Monday, Ukraine rejected as “fake news”, a Moscow claim that it had killed five “saboteurs” attempting to cross into Russia.

Ukraine’s foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba took to Twitter to deny that the country had attacked Donetsk or Luhansk or had any plans to do so. “Russia, stop your fake-producing factory now,” he tweeted.

Ukrainian government troops in trenches in the country’s east said on Monday heavy weapons fire from Russian-backed separatists had intensified to provoke all-out conflict.
