Ceiling Hoist

So I'm looking to install a hoist on the ceiling of my garage to get things on the mezzanine I built! I'm not gonna be lifting anything too heavy, mostly for tires/rims.

So I'm looking for square metal tubing...which gauge should I get....??
 
C'est quoi ton plan exactement? Juste bolté un hoist au plafond ou faire un trolley pi pouvoir wincher le stock a la hauteur de la mezanine pi slider sur la mezanine pour droper ca la?
 
no no rien de complexe, pas besoin de trolley! Just le bolter au plafond très proche de la mezzanine.
 
I would use steel angles, 2x2 or something similar.

It will be as strong as a tube but lighter. Are you going to bolt them together or welded?
 
The steel angles would have to be welded.....but its an option...

H or I beams is a good option too....


Now what gauge and where can i get em, i also need a place thats gonna drill holes in them...lool

FOr the H beam you can get a clamp with an Hook to put the hoist (most of the time it's call beam clamp). It's made for hoist. Uline or tenaquip will sell those or any place for hoist.


As for the H beam itself, try calling metal scrap yard. They may have some to sell for good price.
I know SMR in terrebonne use to have some.

as for the Hoist, it already commes with brackets that bolt onto the machine so it can slide onto a beam.

Un H ou I-beam pour un winch 2000lbs a VTT c'est crissement overkill.
une couple de bout de 2x4 et des lag bolt vont faire la job en masse!

The hoist is rated for 800lbs.....but like I said, I won't be lifting that much.
