je te comprends de vouloir une aircooled car j'ai longtemps rêvé a la légende moi aussi jusqu'a ce que j'achète une 997. Je l'adore, je m'en sert comme daily tellement je la trouve plaisante a conduire. j'ai une carrera 86 en projet aussi, je me demande si je m'en débarrasserai pas tellement je sait que je vais être déçu quand je vais comparer les 2. $ pour $ ya aucune mais aucune avantage pour les aircooled, faut vraiment tripper sur le look ou vouloir rouler en antiquité absolument pour les choisir...

et pour répondre a ta question, les gens fortunés ont acheté tout les œuvres d'art disponibles sur le marché, la suite logique est d'acheter a prix ridicule des voitures antiques qui, malheureusement, reverront plus la route afin de pas les dévaluer. triste pareil quand les vrais amateurs peuvent pu se les payer...

Pretty sure they are all in europe now . I know at least 12 different guys that are shipping them for over 10 years , litteraly working for a guy oversea to spot them etc ...As a lot of any interesting cars , they were bought and shipped on the other side .

Interesting cars from the Europe’s or else coming in , thru auctions and specialist importers . Fair trade if you ask me . Bon débarras

Even the 997.2 supply dried up. I am in talks with a private seller for an air cooled, was looking for comparisons but forget that.

A) Appreciating a piece of history / antique car
B) investment purposes
C) Driving dynamics

I mean there are all sorts of people collecting all sorts of car. A guy restoring/collecting old 2CV's is probably doong it for reason A. A guy collecting old ferraris is probably doing it for reason B.

What is your interest ?
 
je ne suis pas un collectionneur de porsche mais j'ai tjrs été fan de la marque. J'ai eu ma 1ere 944 turbo à 20 ans.
J'ai fais du lapping avec différentes porsche et ensuite fait le grand saut au niveau de la course en porsche pendant 5 ans.

j'ai toujours trippé sur le look des 993 sans même en avoir conduit une avant de l'acheter.

oui elle prend de la valeur but i couldnt care less.
tu vends, tu seras jamais capable d'en racheter une.

Y'en a qui s'essaient, ça veut pas dire qu'ils vont vendre. Elise/Exige Mk2 c'est vraiment bien comme feeling, c'est léger et agile et la suspension n'est pas dure comme de la roche, la position de conduite est super (pas pour du touring on s'entend).

Mais essaie de trouver des pièces, pour réparer ton auto en aluminium que le toit coule et l'eau qui se ramasse dans le fond de la tub.

Quelqu'un que je connais en avait une. Il avait besoin d'un nouveau phare complet suite a une vitre cassée. Ça l'a pris 10 mois avoir la pièce (c'était en 2017, bien avant les excuses de Covid).

There is just something special about the air cooled. It has to be a 1980's onwards, original, maintained and no Frankenstein.
 
We used hylomar a lot in splits (not engines but much bigger splits) and now use Chesterton MPG860

That stuff is so good it's unbelievable but it's $475 USD a kit (2 tubes/cans)

An old 911 is the best way to spend a shit ton of money to look poor. A bit like a Westfalia camper van.

They are sh1t to drive, handle like sh1t, are dog sh1t slow, leak oil and are outrageously expensive to fix. Case in point: a friend has a replica 930 SC RS, new valve rockers for said engine are 700euros EACH (12 valves), a complete engine is well over 70k.

I'm a BMW fan and old 911's are a bit like E30 M3's: they were nice for 15-25k when you could find them at that price, but at 100k+ it's simply not worth it.

Edit: not a 2.7 RS, a 930 SC RS replica.

Même à 20k (ce que mon père avait payé pour sa 964 C4) je comprenais pas le hype et j'aimait mieux ma mr2 à 7k lol. Mais ça s'est avéré être un bon achat vu la plus value

Ceux qui veulent juste l'expérience différente d'un vieux char sport seront mieux servis avec une miata ou autre roadster pas fiable européen des années 80 pour le cinquième du prix.
