It's just enforcing the company culture bullshit, she's probably in a position where she can out-wait them. Ignore the request even if it comes up 2-3 more times, see who caves to the discomfort and request a serious sit down about it. The end game is to have them prove or find one instance where her being in the office would have had a material effect on the work.
They won't be able and they'll back down. The danger is if they go full psychological harassment.
meh... if it gets to that, my suggestion would be to just quit. why be unhappy for all this time?
our house project can take a backseat. We have enough problems on our hands as it is and my family's happiness is the priority.
