Kijiji Finds

Can someone please shed light on my illiterate self regarding these cars? Serious question.

I'll admit ive never driven one, but what's special about them? It's a V8 with a stick which is probably light as well, but what else?
There are lots of cars with a V8 and a stick for less $:
- more recent mustang
- camaro
- c5 corvette (can be found for under 20k, considering people are asking 20k for a fox body)

Then there are cars with a v8 and a stick that handle well from the factory:
- 540i e39
- 545i e60

etc.

I am just curious what's special
looks?

Haha why not lol,

I think it's the first time someone considered a 5 series BMW as a substitute for a mustang with what appears to be a somewhat straight face.

Unless you grew up overseas or are a hipster with fond memories of your yuppie parent's 5 series, these cars won't make many people's got-to-have-it lists in North America. Sure, it may have a V8 but very few people care. Even if they did, the cost, scarcity of parts and, likely convoluted engineering combined with a general lack of knowledge of what makes them tick would be huge drawbacks.

The mustang is an American icon of the everyman / blue collar's sports car. Parts are plentyful at the parts store / junkyards and most backyard mechanics can work on a FoMoCo product from that era blindfolded. They're about as simple as it gets nowadays. It sounds and looks better than it drives, but that's sort of the point. Can it do well in a straight line? Good enough for most. The later SN95 mustangs with the Mod 4.6 just don't sound anything like an old optimistically rounded up 302/ 4.9l v8. Blame the different firing order and design, it's just not the same signature sound.

Those two options may share an engine type and cylinder count, but they couldn't be any more different.

High modification potential,
highly praised by hoonigans for being cheap and dependable,
simple and robust mechanic,
most of them ended up in the junkyard, left to rust or in a ditch

So... finding an unmolested one in a good trim is pretty rare. Might explain why someone who grew up banging the prom queen in the back of one of those will give a decent amount of pesos to own a decent quality unit
