It seems there is a new record for the most expensive car ever sold at an auction and it just happened days ago at the 2014 Bonhams The Quail auction on August 14.
The car is a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO Berlinetta which was built to race in the 1963 FIA World GT Championships and it won. Only 39 examples were built.
Auction price was $38,115,000 USD.
