Snow came about two weeks earlier than usual for Montreal this year. The intense cold and snow has blanketed much of Canada and the USA but it could always be worse: we could have gotten what Buffalo received.
About 150 centimetres fell in and around the city by Wednesday morning with as much as another 30 expected. The snow was caused by the “lake effect” where water vapour is picked up from the lake, turned into snow and dumped back onto the ground.
