New Honda CR-Z To Get 2.0L Turbo

After Honda’s lackluster-performing CR-Z Hybrid experiment, the word seems to have gotten to the higher-ups that a real successor to the CRX is needed. According to Road & Track, Honda will be revamping the CR-Z by ditching the hybrid and equipping it with a 2.0-litre turbo motor.

While the old CR-Z was based on the Fit platform, the new one will be based on the Civic platform (albeit with four inches removed from the wheelbase). Expected to get some design cues from the new NSX and Euro Civic Type R, it’s likely to get a de-tuned version of the new Type R motor making 280 horsepower. The Japan market will still get an optional 1.5-litre hybrid motor.

The timeline is a bit foggy at the moment but the article suggests we could see concepts as early as 2017 and the production model on the market for the 2018 model year.
