A one-minute teaser video was released just minutes ago and the message is very clear: next spring SCP will be making a comeback.
For those who don’t know what SCP is, it was THE event in Montreal’s car scene spanning 2000-2008 at the Olympic Stadium. After an eight year hiatus, it looks like the show is poised to return.
The info divulged in the video is scarce. All we know is that it will be held in April of 2016 and the name has been changed to SCP Evolution. It’s hard to imagine the show returning to the same location as the cost of renting the stadium has become prohibitive. The problem is there just aren’t that many venues that could accommodate a show of this nature so it’ll be interesting to see what SCP comes up with.
SCP was a pioneer in producing a show that was actually different. It was one of the only shows which featured a large percentage of foreign entries compared to just vehicles you saw at local meets.
This is great news for the scene. Expect more teaser videos over the course of the next year. MontrealRacing will also be running a series of articles on past SCP events so look for those as well.
