Is this real life? The long anticipated redesign to the Mitsubishi Lancer is out and the result is absolutely astounding: For the 2016 model year, they are going with basically the same car that is already eight years old!
Okay so they’ve changed the wheels, the front bumper and added some LED daytime running lights. Big whoop!
The inside isn’t much better. The console receives some minor adjustments including a USB port and a different audio or navigation system.
The 148hp, 2.0-litre and 168 horsepower, 2.4-litre MIVEC engines are still there, but they’re now offered with Mitsubishi’s latest generation continuously-variable transmission (CVT) with « improved fuel efficiency, smoother operation, reduced noise and better acceleration and shift performance, » according to the Japanese car maker.
This is the update that should have been offered in 2010, FIVE YEARS ago. That’s a lifetime in automotive trends and for Mitsubishi to think they can get more time out of this design is beyond comprehension. You really have to feel bad for the sales people at this point.
