It’s been five years since the biggest grassroots ride the city has ever seen. In 2012 when the owner of the Ultra Ride didn’t hold one, Auto Acethetics, So Clean, High Society, Stiickiit, MontrealRacing, and a few other promoters got together in the span of two weeks to hold a free ride which attracted 1200 vehicles.
We met at Carrefour Laval and headed to Mont Tremblant on a beautiful sunny Sunday morning. It wasn’t without incident as the police asked people to leave the parking and there were a few small accidents.
MontrealRacing has tried to keep the spirit of the ride going with the Mega Ride and we even solved one of the long standing issues which was the destination. By partnering with Circuit Mont Tremblant for the Cars On Fire Show people actually have a massive event to look forward to after the ride.
We’ve also split them into small legs rather than just one big departure with 1000 cars which is logistically impossible. We’ve created departures in Vaudreuil, Kirkland, Laval, The Orange Julep and St-Bruno.
Attendance has dwindled somewhat in recent years so we’re wondering if it’s because people just don’t want to drive in large groups or is there another reason? Give us your thoughts on the Mega Ride in the comments.
Reminder: This year’s Mega Ride is August 19th and the departure points are here:
