Ford Wants To Charge $10,000 USD For Racing Stripes

Bordering on absurd, Ford will be cashing in on Shelby GT500 customers who just have to have all the bells and whistles with their new racing machine when it hits showrooms later this year.

The automaker plans to ask $10,000 for special painted racing stripes and $1,000 for vinyl stripes. Even the vinyl ones are overpriced and could be done at a local vinyl shop for a few hundred dollars. There is almost no visual difference between the two which explains why vinyl has become so popular. Unless your face is within centimeters of the stripes it’s doubtful you’d be able to tell the difference.

Keep in mind this is a vehicle that will retail for $94,675 in Canada but even then, who in their right mind would spend 10% extra on stripes?
