Another one asking way too much. Rhd on top of that.
Yep. The cats on newer stuff have 1 minute to warm up by two mins the process is complete. In that one minute the OEM can do what it wants in regards to environment laws after thay the DME reverts back to legal emission controls. running pig rich and throwing everything at the cats to get them hot. Look at the timing values on a proper cold start and fuel.

Edit: I believe the process even starts with warming the O2 sensors the moment the door handle is opened or the car unlocked.

Whenever I sit there in training class I wonder what's the point ??? Electric motors are so damned simple and you don't need to have 4000$ of cats on it or injectors that cost 500$ each.Yeah the "race" to meet emissions standards leads to some paradoxical decisions from an old fashioned perspective.
Nothing says efficiency (and long term durability) like purposely "wasting" fuel to warm up a cat converter as quickly as possible.
"Never race a cold engine" yeah ok, cold start blowtorch coming right up!
BMW even experienced with an electrically heated catalytic converter. The cost probably wasn't worth it when you can mess with valve timing / injection timing to warm it up ASAP without any pricey additional components.
The concept of an Internal Combustion Engine isn't exactly rocket science, but it's impressive to see all the considerations and challenges they need to overcome to meet emissions regs and get such high levels of performance.

The engine isn't really racing tho.

Switches normal map in the DME and there is now a load placed on the engine. Priority will be for driving offPOurquoi quand on embraye sur Drive ou Reculons le son coupe d'environ 50% sur le start up?
