I grew up in metric, studied in metric. if an engineering professor (here) would bring up imperial in a class, it would have turned to disaster and they just avoided it. first career job.. guess what, had to learn inches, feet, punds, otherwise I was useless. industrial materials are imperial, drawings are sometimes imperial, sometimes metric, sometimes a combination of both.
the only imperial measure I reject outright is F. I will not make an effort to understand it and never will. I'll learn K before F.
