Gas Tank Latch Malfunction

Hey the lid for the gas tank wont open when I press down on the button, anyone know how to solve this problem, it is a 2005 honda civic coupe thank you

for a temporary fix, reach goto ur trunk, remove some of the side carpetting, and reach till u get to the lil mechanism latch, u should be able to reach it and twist, and it pops out.
